The Personal Ad

Hola and welcome to my first ever personal ad! Let’s start with some info about me.

I am a retired, 59 year old, based in the Pacific Northwest, who spent most of his career working in the tech industry in various capacities. From my time in the corporate world at Boeing to self-employment and establishing an IT Consulting business, I’ve had a very interesting and satisfying career path.

My Backstory

Right off the bat, I want to share a personal note regarding my relationship with God. I know this is a sensitive issue, and some will like it, and some will not. But I grew up in an agnostic family and lived in a heavily atheist environment, and had no real calling to religion. But over the past ten years, after acknowledging a world full of much darkness, I began to recognize the abundant “good” I was discovering in my Christian friends. My journey into Christianity has been a very satisfying and rewarding experience. Long story short, due to my “heathen” past, I feel I’m somewhat of a “bad boy” Christian, and would likely pair best with a “bad girl” Christian, but I’m open to connecting with anyone regardless of their spirituality. Will be a fun topic to discuss.

With that said, I am an attractive man who looks younger than my age, with a full head of wavy brown hair and a 6’1″ athletic frame. I like to work hard and play hard, and was voted Class Optimist my Senior Year. Hence, my inner core is upbeat, positive, and enthusiastic. Among other things, I currently have my three adult children, both my Mom and Dad, and two great dogs in my life.

One of my passions is a love of music. I grew up playing the piano and trumpet, and began to appreciate that music is a wonderful universal language. I’ve had a rewarding experience exploring the world of music, and hosted an eclectic radio show for several years at my college radio station. Music soothes my soul.

Another passion of mine is regular exercise/fitness/physical activity. I have been active my entire life, from playing four years of college soccer, to working multiple winters at a ski resort, to completing several triathlons/marathons. My body does not have the same “snap” it once did, but I do something physical every day to keep it moving in the right direction, and would love to share this passion with you (long walks, cruise biking, swimming, surfing, snowboarding, paddle boarding, gym workouts, yoga, pickleball, etc.).

As for diet and culinary skills, I can cook but don’t consider myself a foodie or chef of any kind. I eat primarily organic foods, no seed oils, very little processed foods and attempt to pursue a healthy diet. A significant portion of my monthly expenditures are spent on high quality food.

My journey has been filled with a desire for life-long learning. A Math/Ed degree led me into a career of technology, and my interest in sound money opened the door to pursuing a Masters Degree in Blockchain and Digital Currency. This background has also spurred my interest in DIY projects (solar/water/off-grid/etc.). The future world before us is going to be an amazing ride, and I believe that further education will continue to be a rewarding path forward.

My financial situation is such that I have enough assets to enjoy the rest of my life. I would like to connect with a woman who brings her own financial contributions to the table. I feel this would establish a relationship that was “give and take”, and increase our compatibility in the long run. Happy to discuss further.

Random Fun Facts: At points in my life, I’ve helped dismantle the Berlin Wall, surfed waves in Panama, kissed the Blarney Stone, and summitted Mt. Rainier.

I’m not seeking to rush into a relationship. I would rather ease into discussions and explore a potential love connection. And as much as a love connection is desired and sought after, I believe simple companionship is likely the most important ingredient when pursuing a healthy, long-term relationship. For example, developing a morning coffee routine that we enjoy, where we chat about the world, plan the day, read the headlines, etc. would be wonderful.

Now that you know my backstory, let me address the “likes” and “dislikes”.

Five Things I Desire From A Woman:

  1. Age Range. I am looking to connect with an athletic, free-spirited woman in her late 40’s to mid 50’s, who has good energy, a positive attitude, and is interested in sharing adventures in a long-term relationship. The age ranges are a guideline and not rigid.
  2. Shared Values. I’m also looking to find someone with shared interests and values, but also realize it’s impossible to agree on everything. My desire is that we can agree on the major issues and respect the minor differences. Finding this common ground will lead to a chapter filled with many enjoyable times together. You may be pursuing a career, retired, family obligations, etc. Whatever the case, if it’s the right fit, we’ll hopefully be flexible and find a compatible solution.
  3. Real Inner Beauty. Do you love life? Do you like to laugh? Is your glass half full? Can you look in the mirror and smile at what you see? The real question is if you don’t love yourself, why should I?
  4. Real Physical Beauty. I prefer women who are naturally beautiful, and as Sir Mix-A-Lot so eloquently put it, those silicon parts are made for toys. I also love beauty that shines without makeup, long pony-tailed hair under a well-worn baseball cap, and sexy summer dresses.
  5. Covid Connection. This one is an atypical ask, but I’m looking for a woman who was unsettled by the measures implemented during Covid. The entire Covid experience was pivotal in my life. My thoughts on the world were greatly impacted by the things I witnessed, and the entire situation created many issues I was reluctantly forced to address. If we can find consensus on this topic, I think most of the other puzzle pieces will fall into place. FYI, I chose not to be vaccinated during Covid.

Five Things I Don’t Desire From A Woman:

  1. Death or Disease. All kidding aside, I don’t have a death wish, so please don’t introduce high risk scenarios into my life. On the same page, I have zero desire for communicable disease exposure – This is definitely the type of communication I’m looking to avoid.
  2. Addiction Dramas. I understand addiction is real, but I’m not interested in daily self-medication with things like alcohol, weed, meth, heroin, fentanyl, glue sniffing, etc. You get the point. I’m a very light drinker these days, herb friendly but rarely partake, and have no addictions myself.
  3. Mental Health Dramas. I think routine maintenance on one’s mental health is a prudent pursuit. I highly recommend it and take pro-active measures myself. But I’m not looking for a ride on anyone’s crazy train that’s already left the station. In the end, the less drama the better.
  4. Woke Dramas. Sorry, not sorry. I watched my middle of the road hometown devolve into an epicenter of terribly destructive policies implemented by overzealous do-gooders. Practically overnight, my “liberal” views were redefined as “conservative” and “my kind” was not welcome any longer. The political goal posts shifted significantly to the left, and I didn’t follow suit, and don’t feel the need to be lectured by anyone subscribing to this new philosophy. Maybe the old adage has some validity – “If you aren’t a liberal at 25, you have no heart. And if you aren’t a conservative at 45 you have no brain”. Luckily I was fortunate enough to find my “brain”, albeit later in life. Hopefully you’ve found yours as well. 🙂
  5. Training. In other words, I’m not a new puppy in need of classes. I’m more than happy to find compromise and adjust behaviors to create balance in the relationship, but at this stage of the game I’m not looking for someone that seeks to mold me into a great guy. I’m hoping that I’m already close enough to a great guy, who has successfully passed potty training, knows how to sit and fetch, and does not need further classes on the topic.

Additionally, I would like to address the anonymity of this ad. In the initial steps of getting to know each other, I would like to remain anonymous. I have nothing to hide, but for various reasons, I also don’t want to put my face out there for all to see without first creating an initial “bond”. I believe email communication is a good place to start, then we could schedule an online video meetup, and then an in-person meeting should the relationship show promise. Once we get past the getting-to-know-each-other phase, I will happily share whatever you’d like to know about me and my past. You will find that it’s easy to peruse my online history.

Lastly, I like to dream – and one dream I have encompasses the possibilities involving bodies of water, mountains, urban settings, and rural acreage. Imagine that your daily routines are filled with exploring long majestic beaches, jumping off your boat into a pristine bay on a hot summer day, creating fresh tracks in an untouched powder field, celebrating a special occasion with a delicious steak from your local rancher with a bottle of wine from your favorite vineyard, and eating a breakfast of freshly laid eggs from the chickens and yummy blueberries and raspberries from the garden. The possibilities are endless with regular access to those four footprints. And it could provide an amazing amount of fun, enjoyment, and security. I firmly believe that dreams won’t come true if you don’t generate them. Looking forward to us dreaming big together!
